'Games That Give the "Man" Moment' a list of games by Alexcicle | Backloggd (2024)

It's hard to describe but this term derives from Daryl Talks Games in his misguided guide to finishing your backlog video. Basically that moment when you're playing and something happens that just makes you think "Man..."

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

This was the big example he gave in the video. During Etika's livestreams of this game. I seriously recommend you watch the video if you haven't. It's really interesting.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

I get these moments basically everytime I play the game so I won't go into too much detail listing all the examples with them.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

Spoilers for all these games btw!

Super Mario Galaxy

There's a ton of really beautiful locations. The title screen is a good example and so is Space Junk Galaxy.

Super Mario 64

I was really young when I first played this so I didn't at the time but if I played it for the first time now it'd be discovering Shifting Sand Lands.

Minecraft

Building some really quaint house and just looking at it and all the work you put in.

Pokémon Omega Ruby

The final fight with your rival by the same pond next to when you started the journey.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

The title screen and the end credits

God of War

There is a part a bit into the game whe you really start the journey where you can see the mountain way off the distance. This was the first super realistic looking game I ever played so it was just really wild to me that a game could look like that.

Marvel's Spider-Man

The post-credit scene where Miles reveals his powers to Peter and Peter jumps up on the ceiling with him and just says "not that weird"

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

First, the segment after the first mission where "On My Own" plays and you're just free to swing to it.

The final fight where Miles says to Phin "because... I'm Spider-Man"

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

The Miles versus Symbiote Peter fight.

The tutorial where Swing plays as you head to take on Sandman.

Celeste

The talk that Madeline and Theo have in Chapter 6 and then the boss fight in the same Chapter.

Honorable mention to that feeling I get after literally every B-Side.

Furi

The shot after the true final boss with the Rider falling back to the planet.

God of War Ragnarök

Just all of the Thor fight.

OK SERIOUSLY MAJOR SPOILERS ON THIS ONE SO WATCH OUT!!!!

Brok' funeral and Sindri's conversation with Atreus just after Brok's death.

Shadow of the Colossus

This entire game is a "Man" moment.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

Alice's fight. Overall this game is a natable step down in writing compared to the first but this scene hits so hard every single time.

Pokémon Violet

The first time you enter the school and you see the students moving at 3fps.

Makes you say "man, why did I buy this god awful game?"

Super Mario 3D World

Meowser

Super Mario Odyssey

The Festival. It's hard to explain but it really feels like Nintendo celebrating Mario's entire legacy.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

The secret ending. Also when Link plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish with Marin.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

There are a ton in this game.

Me personally, it was the first time playing the game right when it released. After all the hype and all the wait. it was finally here.

Diving into the Great Sky Archipelago and off of it later.

Making your way to the wind temple as well as that part of the Colgera boss theme.

The entire final boss including the last phase.

The Final Fall. (The song that plays here transitions from the main totk theme to Zelda's Lullaby and THEN to the Zelda Main Theme! genuinely the dopest thing in a Zelda game.)

Final Fantasy VII Remake

The intro bit and just... how incredible it looks.

The ending.

No More Heroes

The final fight with Henry Cooldown.

Persona 5 Royal

Oh god where to start...

The intro bit with all the pretty and flashy animation.

The final fight when "Our Beginning" plays.

Infiltrating, fighting, and finally defeating the third semester boss.

The ending where you have to go around and say goodbye to everyone you met on your journey.

Terraria

First time crafting the Terra Blade.

Undertale

Findign Asriel at the end of the Pacifist route in the patch of yellow flowers you start the game in. Plus the shot of all the main characters finally seeing the Sun.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The first time you leave the Shrine of Resurrection and you get to see all of Hyrule for the first time.

Finally leaving the Great Plateau and the text saying "Hyrule" appears on screen.

Hi-Fi Rush

f*ck, you! This is the greatest game ever made!
